The first three-year sustainability certification cycle for Fiorentini Firenze S.p.A. concluded in 2021.
Thanks to the implementation of the Sustainability Technical Protocol, Fiorentini obtained certification for its extra virgin olive oil as “from a certified sustainable supply chain” starting with the 2018-2019 harvest. Additionally, in the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 harvests, Fiorentini produced the carbon-compensated extra virgin olive oil branded CLIMATE FRIENDLY.
The Protocol defines measurable environmental and social sustainability indicators and includes a continuous improvement plan aimed at reducing environmental impacts and enhancing ethical and social objectives throughout the supply chain.
A key achievement was the quantification of the carbon footprint for the 2018-2021 harvests, which enabled setting targets for greenhouse gas emission reductions and the compensation of residual emissions, paving the way towards producing carbon-neutral extra virgin olive oil in the future.
For the CLIMATE FRIENDLY product, Fiorentini Firenze S.p.A. offsets the carbon footprint using Gold Standard® certified carbon credits.
