The EMPHATICaL consortium recently gathered for a productive two-day General Assembly and Review Meeting. Hosted by our partner CELSA GROUP, the event brought together 17 partners to discuss our collective progress towards a decarbonised metallurgical industry.
As each work package advances, our shared vision is moving ever closer to becoming a reality, and producing e-methanol from industrial off-gases is no longer just a concept on paper.
Within the EMPHATICaL project, we are assessing the environmental and social sustainability of the innovative value chains that combine carbon capture, green hydrogen, and methanol synthesis to transform metallurgical emissions into valuable products. As leader of the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) activities, CA.RE. FOR. Engineering is supporting the consortium in identifying where the real sustainability benefits lie, highlighting environmental hotspots, and evaluating the conditions under which these technologies can contribute to Europe’s climate neutrality objectives.
The first results are increasingly encouraging and confirm the importance of combining technological innovation with rigorous sustainability assessment.
