CARE FOR AGER–AIRES Conference in Bologna

Dr. Marco Ugolini was invited by AIRES — the Italian Association of Cereal and Oilseed Collectors, Dryers and Storage Operators — represented by its President, Gianfranco Pizzolato, and by AGER, the Bologna Commodities Exchange, to participate in the conference “From Self-Control to Voluntary Certifications” held on 29 May 2014.

His presentation focused on “Environmental Sustainability Certification.”

The event, characterised by a practical and application-oriented approach, addressed some of the most relevant topics concerning primary production and first-stage processing of oilseed and cereal crops in both agro-energy and agri-food supply chains. Key topics included:

  • HACCP self-control systems (Dr. P. Camerotto)
  • System and product certifications (Dr. G. Baccarini)
  • Environmental sustainability certification (Dr. M. Ugolini)

Looking ahead, the Association’s real challenge will be to catalyse and coordinate a process of aggregation among storage and drying companies. This will help optimise resources for innovation and knowledge growth, enhance the value of member companies’ potential, and strengthen their competitiveness in the market.
