The People’s Committee of Quang Tri Province, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, has officially approved the sustainable forest development project proposal submitted by CARE FOR Srl to the Vietnamese Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in May 2011.
It has been a long journey, but patience and trust have been rewarded. CARE FOR will now cooperate with the Managing Board of the Ben Hai Protection Forest to implement a REDD+ project under the guidance of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam.
In 2014, the CARE FOR leadership — Dr. L. Benini and Dr. M. Ugolini — will travel to Vietnam to organise and initiate the study and implementation activities.

Following the review of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dispatch No. 1070 NN-LN dated 16 October 2013, regarding the implementation of the REDD+ project in the Ben Hai Protection Forest, the People’s Committee of Quang Tri Province states as follows:
- The People’s Committee agrees that the Managing Board of Ben Hai Protection Forest will cooperate with CARE FOR to develop and implement the REDD+ project in the forest and forestry land, as proposed by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
- The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will guide the Managing Board of Ben Hai Protection Forest in implementing the project in compliance with current laws.
