Cereal Docks Achieves a National First in Sustainability Certification with CFE

Care For Engineering has contributed to a milestone achievement: Cereal Docks S.p.A. is the first company in Italy to obtain a full Sustainability Certificate covering the entire biofuel production chain — starting from the cultivation of raw materials.

Cereal Docks S.p.A. has earned the 2BSvs sustainability certification, Standards 01 and 02, for its production plants in Camisano Vicentino and Summaga di Portogruaro. This makes the Group the first Italian player in the biofuel sector to reach this goal.

As Italy’s leading processor of oilseeds for food and, secondarily, biodiesel production, the Cereal Docks Group has embraced sustainability as a strategic path — essential to producing in full respect of environmental balance and to significantly reducing CO₂ emissions throughout the production cycle, from sowing to processing.

Cereal Docks chose Care For Engineering to design and implement an environmental sustainability management system and obtain certification in compliance with the Renewable Energy Directive 2009/28/EC (RED Directive).

Under this Directive, operators in the sector must prove that the criteria are met along the entire biofuel production and supply chain. Compliance is verified through independent audits by third-party bodies, based on certification schemes accredited by the European Union — such as 2BSvs.

As Italy’s second-largest biodiesel producer, Cereal Docks has acted promptly, adopting — with Care For Engineering’s consultancy — this voluntary certification scheme for environmental sustainability, both as a collector of agricultural raw materials (Standard 1) and as a processor (Standard 2).
